Elliger Fecit 1667”. På trods af en naturtro skildring af frugt og løv, der er mærket af efterårets farver og forfald, er der noget unaturligt over hele scenariet, i den måde det hele svæver frit i luften. Tyngdekraften er ophævet. Det unaturlige forstærkes i et kornstrå (byg) med en stor græshoppe siddende på akset, der hænger ned fra oven og tegner en diagonal kurve ned gennem hele billedrummet. Sommerfugle og kornstrå i stilleben fra tiden konnoterer almindeligvis livet hinsides dette (i Himlen), opstandelsen og naturens Gudgivne fornyelsescyklus. En græshoppe kan have flere og indbyrdes modstridende betydninger i tidens ikonografi, men i denne kompositions sammenstilling vil den mest nærliggende udlægning være dens betydning som symbol på sjælen. Det verdensbillede, Ottmar Elligers maleri er rundet af, kan meget vel være farvet af tidens religiøse scene. En af den protestantiske, folkelige bodsfromheds mest populære forfattere var den tyske teolog Johann Arendt (1555-1621). I hans bøger Paradiesgärtlein” og Vier Bücher zum wahren Christentum formuleres ideen om en kosmologisk naturfilosofi, hvor naturens enkelte led hænger sammen som i en kæde. Planternes død og deres voksen op på ny udlægges som et billede på menneskets aflæggelse af sit gamle jeg for at iklæde sig et nyt og bedre renset for synd. En mulig metafysisk betydning af frugterne og vinranken kan også findes i tidens opbyggelseslitteratur, fx de såkaldte planteprædikener. Her udlægges planternes frugter ofte som det kristne menneske. Druerne på vinstokken optræder som et billede på de kristne. Ligesom druerne hører til vinstokken, således er alle kristne en del af Kristus.","type":"OTHERTEXT","source":"Eva de la Fuente Pedersen","date":"2013-03-01T00:00:00.000Z"},{"text":"An arrangement of vines and apricot branches stands on a table, its edge bearing the legend ”Ottmr. Elliger Fecit 1667”. Despite the naturalistic depiction of fruit and leaves marked by the colours and decay of autumn there is something unnatural about the entire scene, about the way in which everything hovers in the air. Gravity has been suspended. The unnatural aspect is exacerbated by an ear of barley bearing a large grasshopper hanging down from above, describing a diagonal curve down through the entire pictorial space. Generally, butterflies and ears of corn in still lifes from this period refer to life beyond our earthly existence (in Heaven), to the Resurrection and to nature’s God-given cycle of revival. A grasshopper can have several, mutually exclusive meanings within the iconography of the age, but within this composition the most likely reading would focus on its function as a symbol of the soul. The world view from which Ottmar Elliger’s painting sprang may well have been influenced by the religious scene of the day. One of the best-liked writers within Protestant popular devotional Christianity was the German theologian Johann Arndt (1555-1621). In his books Paradiesgärtlein and Vier Bücher zum wahren Christentum he presents a cosmological philosophy in which all the individual links of nature form a chain. The death of plants, followed by another cycle of growth, is interpreted as a symbol of mankind renouncing its old self, girding itself with a new and better self cleansed of sin. One possible metaphysical meaning of the fruits and vine might also be found in the devotional literature of the period, e.g. the so-called plant sermons. Here, the fruits of plants are often interpreted as Christian believers. The grapes on the vine act as a symbol of the Christian community. Just as the grapes are part of the vine, so all Christians belong to Christ.","type":"OTHERTEXT","source":"Eva de la Fuente Pedersen","date":"2013-03-01T00:00:00.000Z"}],"materials":["Træ"],"object_names":[{"name":"Maleri"}],"production":[{"creator":"Elliger (I), Ottomar","creator_forename":"Ottomar","creator_surname":"Elliger (I)","creator_date_of_birth":"1633-01-01T00:00:00.000Z","creator_date_of_death":"1679-01-01T00:00:00.000Z","creator_nationality":"Tysk","creator_gender":"MALE","creator_lref":"1655_person"}],"production_date":[{"start":"1667-01-01T00:00:00.000Z","end":"1667-12-31T00:00:00.000Z","period":"1667"}],"techniques":["Olie på træ"],"titles":[{"title":"Stilleben","type":"museumstitel","language":"dansk"},{"title":"Nature morte","type":"museumstitel","language":"dansk"}],"notes":["Tidligere Inventarnumre:\r\n- Kunstkammerets Inventar tome IV pag. 1 nr. 859 (som Elliger)\r\n\r\nKatalognumre:\r\n- Stroe nr. 148\r\n- Spengler Fredensborg nr. 239\r\n- Kat. 1946 nr. 205"],"number_of_parts":1,"object_history_note":["- 1810: købt med Bodendicks Samling\r\n\r\nPlaceringshistorie:\r\n- 1910, maj: fra Fredensborg\r\n- 1953, aug.: til Kronborg\r\n- 1977, 29. dec.: på liste ført af Slotsforvalteren"],"object_number":"KMS3017","object_url":"https://api.smk.dk/api/v1/art?object_number=KMS3017","frontend_url":"https://open.smk.dk/artwork/image/KMS3017","iiif_manifest":"https://api.smk.dk/api/v1/iiif/manifest?id=KMS3017","enrichment_url":"https://enrichment.api.smk.dk/api/enrichment/KMS3017","similar_images_url":"https://similar.api.smk.dk/similar/?object_number=KMS3017","production_dates_notes":["Værkdatering: 1667"],"public_domain":true,"rights":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/","on_display":false,"image_mime_type":"image/tiff","image_iiif_id":"https://iip.smk.dk/iiif/jp2/fj2367183_kms3017.tif.jp2","image_iiif_info":"https://iip.smk.dk/iiif/jp2/fj2367183_kms3017.tif.jp2/info.json","image_width":7358,"image_height":9932,"image_size":75608964,"image_thumbnail":"https://iip-thumb.smk.dk/iiif/jp2/fj2367183_kms3017.tif.jp2/full/!1024,/0/default.jpg","image_native":"https://api.smk.dk/api/v1/download/W3siaW1nX3VybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vaWlwLnNtay5kay9paWlmL2pwMi9majIzNjcxODNfa21zMzAxNy50aWYuanAyL2Z1bGwvZnVsbC8wL25hdGl2ZS5qcGciLCJwdWJsaWNfZG9tYWluIjp0cnVlLCJvYmplY3RfbnVtYmVyIjoiS01TMzAxNyIsIm51bSI6IiJ9XQ==/KMS3017.jpg","image_orientation":"portrait","image_hq":true,"has_3d_file":false,"has_image":true,"colors":["#111111","#0c0614","#5a5527","#77733d"],"suggested_bg_color":["#77733d"],"entropy":9.359877,"contrast":1.7705898,"saturation":1.935858,"colortemp":4.008267,"brightness":3.1229947,"artist":["Ottomar Elliger (I)"]}]}
